Politically, these regions were somewhat similar but immensely different in regards to the role of religion in the government. In regards to religion, the different types of Christianity in each region would come to play a major role. Otherwise known as the turning point in events that led to the American Revolution with salutary neglect through mercantilism, and colonial government, that helped give the colonies a small feeling of independence. Sometimes we forget how important our independence really is. The colonists that came to the New World first tasted independence in colonial government. The government in England had persecuted the colonists for their religious beliefs.

This is one of the main reasons why so many people left England in search of a better. The wealthy class was made up by a small minority. The population growth produce more working class and poor people. Those groups of people were seeking the same opportunities as the wealthy class which created a movement. The new pursuit for material wealth sparked religious leaders like John Edwards who delivered a powerful sermon to the puritans that reminded them of why they made the journey to the new world.

The Puritans desired to be free from the control of the crown and to be ruled by God 's Law. Originally, Berkeley gave away a large majority of the fertile lands within the colony away as grants to his family and friends. Berkeley exploited his role in government and used his power to benefit his family and friends. In , the English defeated the Spanish Armada which allowed them to colonize in the North America.
